As the ABIDE program comes to an end it is a bittersweet time.
The last few weeks are packed with review in classes, graduation preparation meetings in the evenings, bazillions of details to sort and errands to run. The staff and students are all so busy finishing up, that the reality that they are leaving our houses sneaks up on us.
Of course we are excited to send them off and see where God takes them and how He uses them. But we are also sad to see them leave and have empty houses.
This year we also had a bigger goodbye as the Founder of ABIDE, Matt Kehn, and his family are moving to Texas. In fact, Juna Amagara has commissioned them as missionaries from Uganda to the USA. The alumni organized a special function in his honor on Friday.
Saturday we celebrated 10 years of saving lives with Juna Amagara Ministries, recognized several JAM staff members who have furthered their education in the past year while they serve, commissioned the Kehn family, and graduated 26 ABIDE students. Wow! What a full day!
Sunday the excitement continued as one of the 2011 students, Rodgers, got married. Many alumni were able to stick around for the wedding of their brother.
It’s been a great weekend of reunions and catered meals…but I’m looking forward to a little time to rest!
Enjoy some pictures of the events over the weekend….even though they are in backwards order. (I’m too tired to fix it!)
wow, thanks Lisa for posts! indeed it was a bitter sweet moment, I believe the beginning of great things starts Now.
